Broadening customer awareness means making customers aware of your business on a broader scale. Many factors go into this including advertising, reputation, and consumer interest.
First, you have to let people know you're around and ready to do business. Once you have done that, you can begin to build your customer base. An aggressive advertising campaign is an easy way to spread the word about your business. When potential customers have heard about your company, but not enough to spark an interest, it helps to reaquaint them. Send pamphlets or post cards through the mail, put up signs in places frequented by potential customers or run televised advertisements. Once customers know who you are, you can begin to build a reputation.
Building a reputation takes time and is up to the company. Good customer service, meeting deadlines on time, quality products are all factors
that boost reputation.
Now that a few people are aware of your company and believe that you have a good reputation, a second round of customer awareness broadening can begin. This phase of advertising is called word of mouth; when people start telling their friends about your company and then they in turn pass along the information to their friends. Fortunatly this phase can be controlled to some degree. By keeping the quality of service constant and giving customers something to talk about, such as great sales or community awareness, what people say when they talk to their friends can be influenced. Broadening customer awareness is a good way for your company to grow.
